DWI Defense

A night out with your friends can turn sour if the police decide that you have had too much to drink and pull you over. There are good ways to handle that situation, but even if you do everything right, you may still find yourself under arrest for drunk driving. Driving while under the influence, drunk driving, DWI, DUI – whatever you call it, it all adds up to the same thing: Trouble.

At Gioffredi & Associates, we have been defending DWI related cases throughout the state of Texas since 1987. We primarily handle cases in Dallas County and the other eight surrounding counties: Tarrant, Denton, Collin, Johnson, Ellis, Kaufman, Hunt, and Rockwall, but we will consider defending you in a different part of Texas.

We have watched the legislature tighten the laws, giving us the situation we now face: where multiple DWI related offenses can eventually turn new charges into felony level; where the legal limit for intoxication is .08; and where, if you are under the legal age for drinking, you can be charged with a DUI if you have had anything to drink under the current zero tolerance for underage drinkers scheme.

We have a wealth of information available to you on this website. Please check out our FAQs as well as our Know Your Rights section which contains a number of articles related to DWI charges and defense. Reading through this material may answer a lot of your questions.

At Gioffredi & Associates, we believe that in most DWI cases, there is nothing to lose by asserting your right to a jury trial. If you are just looking to quickly plead out your case, we are probably not the right law firm for you. But if you want to hold the state to its burden of proof and have everything possible done to win your defense against the DWI charges, we are here. Of course, we will always act in your best interests and you have the final say in how your case is handled. But we will work with you to see if we can keep any of the evidence against you out of court or if we can have the charges dismissed. Then we will take your case to trial and present your side of what happened to the jury. We can’t guarantee results – it would be unethical as well as just plain ridiculous to claim that we can predict the future – but we can guarantee that you will receive the best possible defense.
