A traffic ticket is a surefire way to ruin your day. Say that you are running late for work. Sure, you’re going a little fast, but the rest of the traffic is keeping up with you – it’s not like you’re passing everyone. Suddenly, you hear the siren and see the flashing red lights behind you. And when all is said and done, not only are you now even later for work, but you have a speeding ticket to pay as well. You just know the rest of your day isn’t going to go well after that start!
At Gioffredi & Associates, defending traffic tickets remains a large part of our practice in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We have handled every traffic offense you can think of, and a few that you probably never even imagined. Ticketed offenses include speeding, driving without a valid license, jaywalking, running a red light, illegal lane change, and so many others, we can’t list them all.
The absolute bottom line on defending a traffic ticket is that we want to keep it off your driving record. Getting the ticket dismissed outright is, of course, the most desirable result, and we have had some success with that. However, if your ticket is not dismissed, it may still be possible to arrange to keep it off your record. Such strategies as having you take a defensive driving course or going on some type of probation also can at least keep the ticket off your record.
The only way to know that we will be able to keep a ticket off your record, however, is by working out a plea agreement with the prosecuting attorney. Traffic tickets are the only exception to our philosophy of taking every case to trial. If you truly did not commit the traffic offense and want a contested trial on the ticket, we will certainly handle it for you, but most of the time we can get a better end result for you if we negotiate with the state. The final decision is yours, however.
